Therapy That Meets You Where You Are
Hello, I’m Marisa, LCSW, CASAC-T, a New York-based therapist committed to helping individuals build meaningful lives through insight, connection, and sustainable change.
I hold a Master’s degree from the Wurzweiler School of Social Work and a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy, which continues to inform my reflective and client-centered approach.
My clinical training includes experience at New York Presbyterian’s Vincent P. Dole Treatment and Research Institute for Opiate Dependency, where I focused on addiction treatment, trauma, and co-occurring mental health disorders. I am a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor Trainee (CASAC-T), and I use an integrative approach that draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
I have specialized training in group work and a deep appreciation for the transformative power of community-based healing. Whether working individually or in groups, I strive to create a space that is affirming, nonjudgmental, and collaborative.
Where Insight Meets Practical Change
My clinical interests include trauma, addiction recovery, anxiety, identity development, life transitions, and burnout. I view each client within the broader context of their environment and believe that self-care is a practice rooted in boundaries, values, and systemic awareness—not just surface-level solutions.
Outside of my clinical work, I write professionally for social work publications, perform improv comedy, and spend my downtime running, cycling, and hosting supper clubs. I also play the piano and am an enthusiastic traveler (Belize is next!). My short-haired cat, Roger, is a quiet presence during virtual sessions and often brings a bit of levity and comfort to the therapeutic space.
At the core of my practice is the belief that therapy should be both practical and profound—a space where growth is possible and authenticity is welcomed. My goal is to help clients move toward greater clarity, connection, and alignment in their lives.
My Approach
I use an integrative style—drawing from CBT, DBT, MI, and EMDR—to meet you where you are and guide lasting change.
Healing in Connection
I believe in the power of relationships and group work, creating safe spaces for authentic growth and support.
